mirror of lies

The mirror shows a face of a stranger long gone,
Tears roll down and lips crack into a scream of the forgotten.

She tries to find herself; the one she loved and respected.
The one whose confidence was seen to all before…
Before she became a mask of it all,

The change was for the good.
Or so she hoped.
The love was false, the trust was a fraud
And now, she can’t go back to the real world.

The girl stares back at her,
The same eyes…?
The same lips…?
The same…?

It’s all there but gone.
The eyes hollow,
The lips cold,
Only shallow words without meaning;

Only the actor is seen.
The one with fake smiles and laughs,
Can she take it any longer?

The girl in the mirror simply smiles and shrugs,
She has no worries,
No uncertainties of the ones she loves
She just smiles.
